New “Amazon” Scam

Here’s some info about a scam I just discovered involving “Amazon” (not really!) I saw a “missed call” from the number below with a text message

“New text message from (833) 941-1389”

“A Message from Amazon Customer Service . bit.ly/3p5gHtI”

Clicking the shortened bit.ly link takes one to some bogus page with this text and the Amazon logo  (the link now has a Warning on it from Bitly that its dangerous)

Dear Customers, We were unable to renew your Amazon account. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including changing your billing address or your card that has expired. Apart from the above, this can happen due to incorrect information. You need to verify your Amazon information to maintain your account. Please check your account immediately. We inform you that we will lock your account if you do not confirm within 24 hours. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please do not reply to this email. This mailbox is not monitored and you will not receive a response.

OR ANOTHER MESSAGE ABOUT “PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT” and update your credit card info

Someone is trying to access your credit card with your Amazon account!

Follow the instructions given for security,

If you do not update your card information within 24 hours.Your Amazon account will be held permanently. Please use an account to continue Log in to your account to update your payment information.

THIS IS BOGUS, PEOPLE!

 IT IS NOT FROM AMAZON BUT FROM SCAMMERS / HACKERS LOOKING TO GET YOUR AMAZON LOGIN INFO AND CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!! IF YOU GET THIS DO NOT CLICK THE LINK  AND DO NOT – REPEAT DO NOT – DIVULGE YOUR AMAZON ACCOUNT INFORMATION. THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE AFTER ALONG WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER.

 

A PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE FROM PROMAC/NYC

UPDATE: I AM NOW ALSO GETTING PHONE CALLS WITH ROBO VOICE RECORDING: “THIS IS AMAZON. A $700 CHARGE WAS MADE TO YOUR ACCOUNT…” – AGAIN, THIS IS FAKE; DO NOT FALL FOR IT. SCAMMERS!!!
